zk.money is a Layer 2 privacy app enabling users to privately transfer $ETH, $DAI and $renBTC. It is built on top of the Aztec network, a ZK rollup on Ethereum. Aztec is comparble to zkSync but with a focus on privacy.
zk.money and Aztec network are already live on mainnet. As there are no tokens yet for both projects, early users might be rewarded with an airdrop later on. Ethereum mainnet gas fees are also low at the moment (<50 gwei) so it might be a good time to experience the project.
Note: This is a potential airdrop candidate. There has been no confirmations from the project that they will introduce a token and/or airdrop to users.
We will be working on Ethereum mainnet. Before starting, make sure you have $ETH on your Ethereum mainnet address. 0.01 $ETH is needed for the minimum deposit to open an zk.money account and some $ETH for gas fees (<0.01 $ETH).
Step 1:
Head to https://zk.money/signup and sign up with your wallet. Make a signature then pick your username and register. Now wait several minutes for your account to be created.
Step 2:
You need to deposit at least 0.01 $ETH for your registration.
Step 3:
Now you can “shield” you $ETH. Your $ETH will be converted into $zkETH. Choose your amount to send, fee (cheapest fees with an settlement time of 6 hours) and recipient (yourself).
You will see a yellow dot near your balance afterwards, meaning the transaction has not yet settled. (This is a photo taken from zk.money docs, so the balance doesn’t match.)
Step 4:
The above shielding transaction is only settled when you see your sendable balance. You can then send it out to another user on zk.money or to a L1 Ethereum address.
That’s all for zk.money. Join their discord if you are interested in knowing more.
