Introduction
Gitcoin (Twitter : https://twitter.com/gitcoin) is a community where developers can earn funding in Web 3 while creating open source decentralized applications.
This time GG20 is hosted on Arbitrum and Optimism (for the TEC round). If you wish to support multiple projects in different rounds, you can combine your donations into a single transaction.
Rules
The Gitcoin Grants 20 is live now.
Period: Apr 23, 2024 — May 7, 2024
Some projects may provide airdrops and rewards to donors later on. Donating does not guarantee airdrops. Airdrops like $GTC, $MASK and $RSS3 have provided a decent return for donors.
Layer 2 projects airdrop to Gitcoin Donors as well. For example, Optimism allocated 556 OP ($1400) each for addresses that donated on L1.
There is also a lot of speculation on a potential airdrop from zkSync to Gitcoin Donors as they are close partners. (https://blog.matter-labs.io/funding-public-goods-with-gitcoin-b473ccbc133b)
If you donated in previous Gitcoin rounds, claim a Hypercert for another potential airdrop at https://hypercerts.org/app/dashboard/. Hypercert is a project from Protocol Labs who made IPFS and Filecoin.
Guide
Getting Started:
GG20 is hosted on Arbitrum and Optimism (for the TEC round).
Step 1:
Go to the grants page (https://grants.gitcoin.co/) and choose the rounds to donate to.
Generally you should look for projects that
1. Have a detailed description about what they do.
2. Have not yet issued their tokens, with potential to launch one later.
Suggested projects to donate to: ($3-$5 each)
Ethereum Attestation Service (Infrastructure for making attestations onchain or offchain about anything)
Open To The Public (Collaboration protocol built on Base)
Hey.xyz (Social media app built with Lens Protocol)
Tape (Video platform built with Lens Protocol)
DefiLlama (DeFi TVL and analytics)
xParametric (Climate Prediction Market)
Astral (Location-based apps on Web3)
Step 2:
Gitcoin Passport scores reset after 90 days, so your passport may have already expired. Recreate it at https://passport.gitcoin.co/.
With the recent change in passport score weighting, on-chain activity on Ethereum, zkSync, and interactions with NFTs have become particularly significant. These on-chain activity stamps are automatically verified.
For Web2 stamps, you’ll still need to reverify them one-by-one.
You need a minimum of 20 points to be eligible for matching funding for your donations. You can check the passport score list here.
Step 3:
Simply click “Add to Cart” for the projects you want to donate to. Remember that you can donate to multiple projects from different rounds in a single transaction.
Click on the shopping cart to check out.
Select the amount and the type of asset to donate. Click “Apply to all” and “Submit your donation”.
Step 4:
Confirm your transaction and you will see this after your payment.
That’s all for GG20. Here comes the wait till the airdrop.
