Introduction

Gitcoin (Twitter : https://twitter.com/gitcoin) a community where developers can earn funding in Web 3 while creating open source decentralized applications.

Instead of the usual GR16, they are now running a Alpha Test Season where they will run early design rounds to test their new grants protocol. They will run four “test” alpha rounds with UNICEF, Fantom, Optimism, and Alchemix.

Rules

The Fantom round and the UNICEF round is on now.

Fantom Round: Dec 12, 2022 — Jan 2, 2023

UNICEF Round: Dec 9–21, 2022

Read here for details. You’ll get a POAP for donation to each round.

Some projects may provide airdrops and rewards to donors later on. Donating does not guarantee airdrops. Airdrops like $GTC, $MASK and $RSS3 have provided a decent return for donors.

Other projects airdrop to Gitcoin Donors as well. For example, Optimism allocated 555 $OP each for addresses that donated on L1.

Guide

Getting Started:

Fantom round only accepts donation on Fantom and UNICEF round only accepts donation on Ethereum.

We will be showing how to donate to the new grants protocol with the Fantom round.

Step 1:

Go to the grants explorer page and look for projects to donate. Make sure you are connected to Fantom.

Generally you should look for projects that

1. Have a detailed description about what they do.

2. Have not yet issued their tokens, with potential to launch one later.

Suggested projects to donate to (I recommend $5 each to avoid being classified as Sybil.)

Fantom Round:

Loanshark (Borrowing aggregator) [No Token]

Symphony Finance (Yield generating limit orders) [No Token]

UNICEF Round:

StaTwig (Blockchain supply chain systems)

Step 2:

Simply click “Add to Shortlist” for the projects you want to donate to.

Step 3:

Click on the shopping cart to check out.

Then add all your projects to final donation.

Select the amount and the type of asset to donate. Click “Apply to all” and “Submit your donation”.

Step 4:

Confirm your transaction and you will see this after your payment.

That’s all. Here comes the wait till the airdrop from one of your donated projects.
