Introduction
Gitcoin (Twitter : https://twitter.com/gitcoin) is a community where developers can earn funding in Web 3 while creating open source decentralized applications.
GG18 is on Optimism besides the ETH Infra round which will be on PGN. You can also donate to multiple rounds at once. It’s fair to say there will be huge savings for gas fee compared to the last Gitcoin Round!
Rules
The Gitcoin Grants 18 is live now.
Period: Aug 15, 2023 — Aug 29, 2023
Some projects may provide airdrops and rewards to donors later on. Donating does not guarantee airdrops. Airdrops like $GTC, $MASK and $RSS3 have provided a decent return for donors.
Layer 2 projects airdrop to Gitcoin Donors as well. For example, Optimism allocated 556 OP ($936) each for addresses that donated on L1.
There is also a lot of speculation on a potential airdrop from zkSync to Gitcoin Donors as they are close partners. (https://blog.matter-labs.io/funding-public-goods-with-gitcoin-b473ccbc133b)
If you donated in Gitcoin Beta, claim a Hypercert for another potential airdrop at https://hypercerts.org/app/dashboard/. Hypercert is a project from Protocol Labs who made IPFS and Filecoin.
You may also be eligible for an $GLM airdrop if you donated more than $20 in OSS round, claimed a POAP and voted in Octant’s Epoch Zero event.
Guide
Getting Started:
Gitcoin Grants 18 is on Optimism mainnet except for ETH Infra round which is on PGN.
Step 1:
Go to the grants page (https://grants.gitcoin.co/) and choose the rounds to donate to.
We will demonstrate with the OSS round. Make sure you are connected to Optimism mainnet.
Generally you should look for projects that
1. Have a detailed description about what they do.
2. Have not yet issued their tokens, with potential to launch one later.

Step 2:
Gitcoin Passport scores reset after 90 days, so your passport may have already expired. Recreate it at https://passport.gitcoin.co/.
You can now do 1-click verification to add all on-chain stamps back.
For Web2 stamps, you still need to verify them one-by-one.
You need a minimum of 20 points to be eligible for matching funding for your donations on Gitcoin Passport.
If you had some on-chain activity and combine it with a few Web2 stamps (Google: 2.25 pts , Linkedln 2.45 pts, Facebook 1.378 pts, Coinbase 1.35 pts, Discord 0.689 pts), then it should not be hard to get 20 points. You can check the passport score list here.
Step 3:
Simply click “Add to Cart” for the projects you want to donate to.
Click on the shopping cart to check out.
Select the amount and the type of asset to donate. Click “Apply to all” and “Submit your donation”.
Step 4:
Confirm your transaction and you will see this after your payment.
If you are donating to ETH Infra, you’ll need to bridge to PGN using https://bridge.publicgoods.network/ and repeat the above process again.
That’s all for GG18. Here comes the wait till the airdrop.
